For years Fedden knew that sharing legal knowledge would not be possible in the traditional setting of law firms, legal departments or similar environments where the audience is inherently predetermined and limited. He wanted something different, innovative and original.
In a world where perception paints law and those who practise it as expensive and inaccessible, it is important to recognise that lawyers are, first and foremost, individuals who require the support and interaction of society. Conversely, society relies on the expertise and services provided by lawyers. FASZ seeks to facilitate a harmonious relationship between lawyers and society.
As such, FASZ provides tailored legal information, technology and consultancy services under the overarching objective of promoting law and access to justice. They do this through innovative and transformative legal solutions that bridge the gap between legal knowledge and its accessibility, while simultaneously harnessing the power of modern technology. These services are provided online and include the following core services:
FASZ is also busy developing a web-based solution called Brevitas that will summarise judgements, analyse and manage legal documents, and collect and analyse data.
Fedden needed help maintaining all the aspects of the consultancy, so he brought Fadzai Musodza onboard as a co-owner. A brilliant law graduate, Musodza’s love for technology has seen her heading the Technology and Marketing departments of FASZ. The co-owners are supported by a team of young law students and graduates who operate as case law analysts, legal marketing officers, legal journalists, and legal operations officers.
With their philosophy of innovation, FASZ’s founders have not only pioneered innovative legal solutions, but have also opened up new career paths in the legal profession. The consultancy hopes to become a beacon of change in the rather conservative legal profession, to the benefit of all Namibians.
