Zimbabwean law firm Absolom & Shepherd promotes corporate litigator Melusi Majojo to Senior Associate
Absolom & Shepherd Attorneys is a Zimbabwean firm focused on the future of legal practice, with a vision to provide international legal solutions, cultured in excellence and value creation. It has now announced Melusi Majojo’s promotion to Senior Associate.
Less than eighteen months after Melusi Simbarashe Majojo joined leading Zimbabwean law firm Asbolom & Shepherd Attorneys, the firm has announced that the talented young lawyer has been promoted from Associate to Senior Associate.
“This well-deserved milestone reflects his dedication, legal expertise, and commitment to excellence in serving our clients,” shared Absolom & Shepherd, yesterday. “Melusi Majojo has consistently demonstrated professionalism, leadership, and a strong contribution to the firm’s continued success.”
A law graduate of the University of Zimbabwe, Majojo specialises in civil and commercial litigation, and also has substantial experience in mergers and acquisitions, particularly within the mining sector, where he has successfully assisted clients in acquiring mines and drafting intricate mining contracts. After joining Absolom & Shepherd in January last year, he also went on to earn a Postgraduate Diploma in Taxation from the Zimbabwe Institute of Tax Accountants.
As a litigator, Majojo has represented clients in high-stakes litigation, including a million-dollar shareholder investment dispute and large-scale debt recovery efforts totalling USD 5 million. Commenting on his promotion yesterday, Majojo recalled being a four-year-old dreaming of being a lawyer, and his pride in being promoted, while declaring he would “keep pushing” as “the journey is only beginning”.
A seasoned public speaker, Master of Ceremonies of local and international events, and spoken-word performer and poet, Majoji is also the co-founder of Orator's Edge, a firm which offers coaching in oratory, strategy, and corporate communication strategy development. He has also conducted training sessions on the integration of carbon pricing and artificial intelligence for the betterment of humanity.
Established in Harare in 2022, Absolom & Shepherd Attorneys states that its mission is to pursue the future of legal practice by mobilising “the best talent, resources, technology, and exceptional networks to achieve sustainable solutions” for local and international clients. A legal solution centre for business and commerce in Zimbabwe, the firm offers solutions in mining, energy, corporate, commercial, and business law. It has served a diverse array of clients, including private equity funds, mineral traders, foreign diplomatic missions, and large multinational companies.
“Our firm has handled multi-million-dollar transactions on behalf of clients the world over,” the firm’s founders Simbarashe Absolom Murondoti and Shepherd Machigere, told Africa Legal as part of their Local Insights series. “We have also been involved in groundbreaking litigation over a number of interesting legal questions.”
