Omar Zizi spearheads Al Tamimi & Company’s return to Casablanca

Former Allen & Overy lawyer Omar Zizi has become Partner and Head of the Morocco office of Al Tamimi & Company, as the leading MENA firm establishes a renewed presence in Casablanca as part of its continued growth in North Africa
Morocco is a market of strategic importance, economically, commercially and legally, and the addition of Omar Zizi and his team strengthens the ability of Al Tamimi & Company to support clients navigating complex cross-border matters throughout the region, says Essam Al Tamimi, the leading MENA firm’s Chairman.
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Omar Zizi and his team to Al Tamimi & Company as we establish our renewed presence in Casablanca,” shared the Chairman after the recent announcement that Omar, a former Allen & Overy lawyer, was joining Al Tamimi & Company as a partner and Head of the Morocco office. “This is a meaningful step forward in our continued growth across North Africa.”
Founded in Sharjah in 1989, Al Tamimi & Company is the leading corporate law firm in the Middle East & North Africa region, with more than 420 lawyers in 17 offices across 10 countries. The addition of Omar and his team refreshes the firm’s Morocco presence, after it severed ties with local boutique Roudane & Partners last year.
“It’s a true privilege to work alongside Essam Al Tamimi, our Chairman and Founder, and Jody Waugh, our Managing Partner, whose leadership has shaped the firm’s remarkable success,” says Omar, who was admitted to the Paris Bar in 2014, before building his career as a business lawyer in Casablanca by working on complex, high-impact deals first at Allen & Overy, then the firm he co-founded, KZ & Partners.
“Morocco has always been a land of resilience and boundless potential,” says Omar, who joined the Casablanca Bar in recent years, strengthening his local ties. “I’m honored to join a team deeply committed to supporting its continued development and to have the opportunity to serve clients as part of this next chapter.”
The addition of Omar and his team reflects Al Tamimi & Company’s ongoing commitment to delivering top-tier legal services across North Africa, enhances its regional capabilities, and underscores its long-term investment in Morocco as a key jurisdiction for cross-border activity and economic growth.
“Omar’s deep legal expertise and understanding of the Moroccan market will be instrumental as we reaffirm our presence in Casablanca,” said Essam Al Tamimi.
The strong diplomatic and economic ties between Morocco and the UAE have fostered a dynamic environment for foreign investment and bilateral cooperation, noted the Chairman. Al Tamimi & Company’s local presence positions the firm to support this growing momentum and strengthen regional business connectivity.
Omar Zizi brings extensive experience in advising on complex legal matters, with particular focus on banking, industry, and regulatory matters. His addition, along with his team, supports Al Tamimi & Company’s objective to be the legal partner of choice for local and international clients operating in Morocco and beyond.
“Omar’s joining marks an exciting step forward for our firm in North Africa,” says Jody Waugh, Managing Partner at Al Tamimi & Company. “His reputation and insight into the Moroccan legal landscape make him a natural fit for Al Tamimi & Company, and his appointment will strengthen our ability to support clients across borders and further develop our presence in this important market.”
This integration reflects Al Tamimi & Company’s long-standing strategy of investing in talent and capability wherever its clients do business, says Essam Al Tamimi. “
“We remain firmly committed to servicing our clients across the region. I look forward to the impact our Moroccan team will have as we build a stronger, more connected platform for legal excellence throughout MENA.”
