Nairobi’s KN Law snares rising corporate law star Sally Kamau as a new partner
Founded in 2012, KN Law LLP is a boutique commercial law firm based in Nairobi, with a regional presence and an international liaison office in London. Today it announced the arrival of rising star Kenyan corporate lawyer Sally Kamau as a new partner
Having worked in both private practice and as an in-house counsel, new partner Sally Kamau brings a unique combination of transactional expertise, commercial insight, and practical understanding of the legal and operational needs of businesses, said KN LLP as the Kenyan firm announced her arrival today.
Kamau is returning to private practice after most recently being Senior Legal Counsel at Tatu City Limited, the developer of a massive 5,000-acre mixed-use smart city and Special Economic Zone located 20 kilometres north of Nairobi’s CBD.
Her practice will focus on Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), energy and infrastructure, project finance, debt and equity transactions, cross-border investment structuring, and employment advisory. “Looking forward to this new exciting challenge,” said Kamau, sharing news of her KN Law partnership on social media.
“We are delighted to welcome Sally G Kamau to KN Law LLP as a partner,” said the Kenyan firm today. “She has advised on complex, high-value transactions across multiple sectors, including renewable energy projects, major infrastructure developments, cross-border financing arrangements, and strategic investments.”
Kamau’s appointment further strengthens the firm’s capabilities to deliver strategic, commercially focused legal solutions to clients across Kenya and the wider region.
A law graduate of the University of Nairobi, after short-term internships while studying, Kamau began her career as a Trainee Advocate with prominent Kenyan law firm Ashitiva Advocates LLP in 2018, rising to Senior Associate before joining Tatu City. She held senior roles including Director of the Energy and Projects Department, and Acting Head of the Corporate-Commercial Department at Ashitiva Advocates.
During her seven-year tenure at Ashitiva Advocates, she was named Rainmaker of the Year in 2022 and in 2023, in recognition of being the firm’s highest fee-earner in each of those respective years. In 2021, as an associate, she was one of few stakeholders invited by the Presidential Taskforce on the Review of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to represent energy sector stakeholders. During this process, she successfully formulated ideas and advanced regulatory proposals that were formally adopted and integrated into Kenya’s carbon markets regulations.
In August 2026, Kamau was named among Kenya’s Top 100 Commercial Lawyers by The Lawyer Africa. She is also a Certified Legal Auditor and trained mediator.
