Former Magic Circle lawyer Moulay El Amine El Hammoumi Idrissi launches KALYS Law Firm in Casablanca
The Casablanca legal landscape continues to evolve and grow, as leading Moroccan commercial and M&A lawyer Moulay El Amine El Hammoumi Idrissi announced he was moving on from Grant Thornton to launch KALYS Law Firm
The launch this month of KALYS Law Firm in Casablanca is the natural continuation of more than two decades of studying and practising business law, says trilingual Moroccan corporate commercial attorney Moulay El Amine El Hammoumi Idrissi.
“Over the years, I have developed my practice alongside leading legal and financial institutions, advising on major transactions of national importance,” says Idrissi, who was most recently a partner at Fidaroc Grant Thornton. “My experience has been shaped by complex M&A operations, strategic restructurings, and high-stakes matters where legal precision, strategic insight, and sound judgment are essential.”
Idrissi describes KALYS Law Firm, where he will be Managing Partner, as an independent firm dedicated to advising public and private companies, institutions, and investors on their most critical strategic operations, with a particular focus on mergers & acquisitions and competition/antitrust law.
The new firm will support decision-makers at every stage of complex transactions, offering counsel grounded in technical excellence, rigorous risk management, and a deep understanding of business, governance, and market dynamics.
“The creation of KALYS Law Firm reflects a clear vision of the business lawyer’s role: that of a trusted advisor, fully engaged in the structuring and execution of transactions that shape organisations and markets,” says Idrissi.
Speaking with Africa Legal today, Idrissi says another senior lawyer will be joining the new firm in a few weeks, and they will be recruiting juniors in the near future.
After studying economics and management at the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne, Idrissi earned his law degree and a Master’s in Economics and Business Law from Mohammed V University in Rabat, before beginning his legal career at specialist international business law firm Hajji & Associés. He later practiced as a Senior Associate at what is now Naciri & Associés A&O Shearman.
When officially announcing the launch of KALYS Law Firm on Friday, Idrissi thanked his former colleagues for their trust and support over many years. “These experiences, and the remarkable people I worked with, have been decisive in shaping my professional path and making this new step possible.”
Idrissi has been ranked multiple times as a Rising Star or Next Generation Partner by various international legal directories. He has been involved in various transactions in North Africa, Europe, the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa. Idrissi regularly advises domestic and international clients on cross-border and local issues.
Fluent in Arabic, French, and English, he has also served as treasurer of the Moroccan Professional Association of Competition Lawyers and Chair of the Data Commission of the Moroccan Professional Association of Data Protection Lawyers.
In one of his first matters as Managing Partner of KALYS Law Firm, Idrissi assisted top-flight Moroccan football club Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès to agree and sign a partnership contract with Nike, and a marketing contract with Zyada Capital.
The launch of KALYS Law Firm continues an evolution in the Casablanca legal landscape, with corporate and M&A expert Hajar Benyachou and technology and IP lawyer Pierre Deprez merging their practices to launch Sila Law Firm in Casablanca in July 2025, and global law firm Ashurst launching its first Africa office in the city in December 2025, led by project finance and M&A expert Ouns Lemseffer
