Hajar Benyachou and Pierre Deprez launch SILA Law Firm, at ‘the crossroads of Africa and Europe’

The merger of two Moroccan legal practices, Lys Law and Deprez Advisors, has created a new independent legal advisory firm in Casablanca specialising in business law.

Driven by a common vision of a modern, rigorous, and innovative law firm, corporate and M&A expert Hajar Benyachou and technology and intellectual property lawyer Pierre Deprez have merged their practices to launch Sila Law Firm in Casablanca.

“We wanted to create a firm that combines the rigor and excellence of large international firms with the agility, cultural proximity, and availability of a human-sized firm,” says Benyachou, who has a dozen years’ corporate law experience in France and Morocco, and was previously a partner at Afrique Advisors.

Sila Law Firm will offer tailored strategic support based on a collaborative approach and in line with the best international standards, and aims to become a strategic partner of choice for large national and international groups, investors, executives, SMEs, and startups engaged in growth, digitalization, or structuring dynamics.

Deprez, who spent several years at Baker McKenzie before establishing his own firm based in Casablanca and Paris dedicated to Intellectual Property, Technology Law, Distribution and Antitrust Law, notes the name ‘Sila’, which translates from Arabic to mean connection or relationship, embodies their new firm’s philosophy and vision.

Joining forces, he and Benyachou, along with their associates Hiba Mrini and Hapsatou Tall, are looking to build relationships of trust, proximity, and sustainability with clients while supporting them with their operational and strategic challenges.

“In a context of accelerated digital transformation, our goal is also to provide clear and agile legal solutions to innovative companies, fully integrating their technological, cultural, and economic specificities,” he adds.

The two founders share complementary backgrounds, having studied in Paris and practiced in Morocco for many years, with both actively involved in helping entrepreneurial and innovative companies.

Benyachou has worked with executives, shareholders, and investors in the context of company sales, acquisitions, or restructuring, across all sectors, and is also active in the startup and venture capital ecosystem. She supports investors, innovative companies, or growing SMEs in their fundraising, structuring their funding rounds, and securing their legal development.

Deprez mainly works in the fields of digital law, intellectual property, and economic law, particularly with large Moroccan and international companies in the technological, industrial, outsourcing, and cultural sectors. He dedicates a significant part of his activity to supporting innovative companies, especially in the IT sector, in structuring their contractual, commercial, or technological relationships.

“As Morocco is going through an unprecedented period in terms of investment and development prospects, Sila Law Firm positions itself as a strategic partner for Moroccan, international, and pan-African companies looking to structure their activities and secure their investment operations,” says Benyachou.
