Dedication, leadership, contribution: OAL elevates Dr Udenna Chukwulobe to Associate Partner

The elevation of Dr Udenna Chukwulobe from Managing Senior Associate to Associate Partner is a well-earned milestone that “reflects his dedication, exceptional leadership, and valuable contributions to the firm and our clients”, said Lagos-based Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL), as it announced the promotion yesterday

A highly experienced practitioner, Chukwulobe brings nearly two decades of expertise in litigation across both commercial and general civil matters. With a reputation for strong courtroom advocacy, OAL notes he has a proven track record of advising clients on complex legal issues at both trial and appellate levels.

As a key member of the firm’s Dispute Resolution, Maritime, and Environmental Practice Groups, Chukwulobe leads high-stakes cases, ensuring effective legal representation in diverse sectors. His legal acumen includes advising on intricate maritime disputes, environmental compliance, and other high-profile matters.

A law graduate of Anambra State University, with an LLM from the University of Lagos, Chukwulobe recently completed his PhD in Environmental Justice and Human Rights from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Akwa.

Chukwulobe’s achievement in achieving his doctorate, following the successful defense of his dissertation, “reflects the discipline that defines great scholarship, the curiosity that strengthens legal practice, and the conviction that the law must continually evolve to serve society more effectively”, continued OAL on 31 July.

In a post shared by OAL across social media earlier this week, Chukwulobe noted that environmental justice, the topic of his PhD, goes beyond simply protecting the environment, and is not limited to the Niger Delta.

It is not activated only after environmental harm occurs, and it is not anti-business, nor is it fulfilled by mere regulatory compliance. “Rather, it is the legal and moral commitment to fairness,” he said, “ensuring that development is sustainable, accountability is enforceable, communities have access to justice, and no one bears a disproportionate share of environmental harm while others enjoy the benefits.”

In addition to his litigation prowess, OAL notes Chukwulobe is also an expert insolvency practitioner, skilled in managing and navigating the complexities of corporate restructuring, insolvency proceedings, and distressed asset management. “His vast experience allows him to provide practical, strategic solutions to clients facing financial challenges, making him a trusted advisor in this specialised field.”
