Corporate and M&A expert Aggrey Ernest promoted to Clyde & Co Tanzania partnership
With over 70 offices and associated offices spread across six continents, including several in Africa, Clyde & Co is a leading global law firm. Showcasing its ongoing investment in its Africa practice, it has this month elevated Aggrey Ernest to the partnership in Tanzania.
New Clyde & Co Tanzania partner Aggrey Ernest brings significant corporate expertise, with a strong focus on mergers and acquisitions, competition law and capital markets across all sectors, said Peter Kasanda, Chair of the Clyde & Co Africa Committee, as he proudly shared that Ernest has joined the Tanzanian partnership.
“He is highly regarded for advising clients on complex transactional and regulatory matters across Tanzania and East Africa,” said Kasanda of Ernest, who joined the global law firm’s Dar es Salaam office as a senior associate three years ago, after more than a decade at leading East African firm Anjarwalla & Khanna. “We look forward to the impact you will continue to make for our clients and for the firm.”
A graduate of the University of Dar es Salaam, Ernest predominantly works in the Corporate Department of Clyde & Co Tanzania. He has advised on corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, antitrust and competition, and undertaken detailed due diligence in medium to large investment and takeover matters.
“This milestone reflects the strong collaboration, trust, and opportunities that have shaped my journey,” shared Ernest following his elevation to the partnership. “I am grateful to colleagues and clients whose support and partnership have been instrumental along the way. I look forward to building on this foundation and embracing the opportunities ahead. Onward to the next chapter.”
An Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and member of the Tanganyika Law Society and East Africa Law Society, Ernest also holds a Master’s Degree in Taxation from the University of Dar es Salaam and is a Registered Tax Consultant.
Clyde & Co has been advising on the legal and commercial aspects of doing business in East Africa for over 20 years, and is one of the largest international law firms in Tanzania. Additionally, the firm’s Dar es Salaam lawyers established the Regional Resource Centre to offer businesses a new approach to obtaining legal advice throughout the African continent, acting as a one-stop shop for legal needs.
