Established in 2013, Wamae & Allen LLP is a premier full-service law firm with offices in Nairobi and Mombasa, and a member of global network Multilaw. This week it has announced the promotion of disputes lawyer Lawrence Ongeri to Senior Associate
Kenyan full-service law firm Wamae & Allen LLP has announced this week that Lawrence Ongeri, a highly accomplished advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with expertise in civil litigation, commercial litigation, constitutional interpretation, and alternative dispute resolution, has been promoted to Senior Associate.
“Since joining the firm, Lawrence has consistently demonstrated exceptional legal acumen, a tireless work ethic, and an unwavering commitment to our clients’ success,” said Wamae & Allen LLP (W&A). “His growth is a testament to his dedication and the high standard of legal service we strive for at W&A.”
The firm noted that Lawrence has “an outstanding track record”, having successfully represented both local and international clients across various legal forums, including the Court of Appeal, High Court, Magistrates’ Courts, and Quasi-Judicial Tribunals. He has also been instrumental in developing litigation strategies, offering expert legal advice, and crafting customised dispute resolution approaches.
A graduate of Kenyatta University, Lawrence’s areas of practice cover Banking & Finance, Insurance Law, Employment & Labour Relations, and Constitutional Law.
Wamae & Allen LLP notes that a testament to Lawrence’s legal acumen is his successful handling of landmark litigation, including a pivotal case involving a multi-million-dollar employment dispute over salary reductions implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. He effectively argued the extraordinary circumstances constituted force majeure, justifying contractual modifications. The Court upheld this position, dismissing the claim - a decision that set a precedent in employment law.
“With a strong ability to handle intricate, high-stakes cases, he consistently achieves positive results for his clients,” says the firm. “His ability to analyze intricate legal issues, develop persuasive arguments, and craft precise legal documents ensures seamless case progression and compliance with regulatory standards.”
