The Future of Mining | Sustainability
Mining is one of the biggest drivers of infrastructure development and wealth creation in Africa but it is a sector that remains fraught – caught between a devastating history and its incredible potential.
Through 2020 – despite the hurdles created by the pandemic - Africa Legal, and global law firm, Hogan Lovells, have worked to shine a light on the most pressing challenges facing this sector.
By exploring the themes of diversity, sustainability and technology we are producing reports that reflect on the issues driving the significant long-term benefits in mining.
At the core of the second report ‘The Future of Mining | Sustainability’ will be data from mining professionals across Africa supplied via an online survey. The report aims to provide a true benchmark on sustainability initiatives and provide visibility around the practical steps being taken by mining companies to improve sustainability practices.
Africa Legal’s Wendy Bampton said the ability for the research to make a positive impact and add value would be strongly aligned to the size and depth of the respondent audience.
“We would really like to encourage all of our readers in the mining sector to participate and complete our five-minute online survey.

“We look forward to your input and launching this much-needed research before the end of this year,” Wendy said.
