Making an impact: six new Board members elected to expanded 2026 GAIL Africa Regional Board
Established in 2015, the Global Alliance of Impact Lawyers (GAIL) is a community of legal leaders who use the practice of law to have a positive impact on people and the planet. This week, the organisation announced its GAIL Africa Regional Board for 2026
Ghanaian lawyer and engineer Prince Osisiadan and Kenyan in-house lawyer Vision Nyaji say they are grateful and excited for the opportunity, and honoured to serve on the 2026 Africa Regional Board for the Global Alliance of Impact Lawyers (GAIL).
The pair are two of six fresh board members who will sit on the GAIL Africa Regional Board for 2026. This week the global organisation announced that following elections last month, ENS South Africa Director Jessica Blumenthal would continue as Chair, and the Africa Regional Board had grown from 10 to 13 board members.
Prince, who calls himself a ‘sustain-preneur’, is Founder and CEO of SUCCA Africa, a management consultancy that aims to help businesses operating in Africa achieve sustainable growth and contribute to the development of local communities while protecting the environment. Vision is a Legal Counsel at AgDevCo, a specialist impact investor operating exclusively in the agriculture sector in Africa.
Other new board members for 2026 include Alice Ndungu, Senior Legal Counsel at Energy & Project Development Africa in Kenya; Ivy Muriungi, Managing Counsel at The Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) in Kenya; Kageni Mbungu, Director of Compliance at M-KOPA in Kenya; and Tiago Arouca Mendes, the Managing Partner of MDR Advogados in Mozambique.
“A warm welcome to the new members of the GAIL Africa Regional Board,” said Melissa Manzo, the President of the Global Alliance of Impact Lawyers. “We're excited about working with you all over the next few months.”
Established in 2015, GAIL is a community of legal leaders who are using the practice of law to have a positive impact on people and the planet, and to accelerate the just transition. The organisation believes lawyers are “uniquely positioned to facilitate change and support the movement towards a more equitable system”.
The first Africa Regional Board was established in 2024, with NanaAma Botchway, the Managing Partner of N. Dowuona and Company in Ghana, as inaugural Chair. NanaAma and Jessica are among several board members who have served for the past two years and will continue on the 2026 Africa Regional Board.
The full 2026 board also includes Aurelie Pujo, Senior Advisor at Amethis in Morocco; Didier Boua Doux, Managing Partner of Kwaliance in Côte d’Ivoire; Eliud Ogutu, partner at Ogutu + Associates in Kenya; Gilbert Chama, partner at Abigail & Chama Advocates in Zambia; and Jesse Zigmund, General Counsel at M-KOPA in Kenya.
“It’s a genuine honour to take on this role alongside my existing seat on the Global Board of GAIL,” says Eliud. “Both are deeply connected to a shared belief: that the law can and should be a powerful force for good. I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves with the brilliant GAIL community to support their essential work.”
GAIL members will be hosting three in-person gatherings across the African continent next month: a Members’ Lunch in Cape Town on Monday 9 February; a GAIL Member Drinks in Accra on Thursday 12 February, and a Member Drinks in Cape Town on Tuesday 24 February. Such informal meet-ups are a great opportunity to connect with and strengthen the regional GAIL community.
“Lawyers are powerful advocates, champions and gatekeepers,” says the organisation. “Through our six global regions, GAIL profiles, connects, educates, inspires and mobilises impact lawyers. Together, we use the practice of law to create a more sustainable and inclusive economy.”
