African Legal Awards - Nominations Now Open

Is your firm among Africa’s best and brightest? Winners of the 2022 African Legal Awards will be announced on 2 September 2022, and nominations are now open for the ninth annual running of this, the premier legal awards event on the continent.

Hosted by Law.com International in partnership with Africa Legal, the Corporate Counsel Association of South Africa and the global charity Save the Children, the awards recognise exceptional achievements from within Africa’s legal community.

Each year the African Legal Awards garner entries from a wide pan-African audience. In 2021 over 400 submissions were received, and over the last three years the awards have seen representation from 20 countries across Africa. This year the organisers hope to see entries from even more African countries.

“Africa Legal is once again thrilled to be partnering with Law.com International for the African Legal Awards,” said Thomas Pearson, Chief Commercial Officer at Africa Legal. “Seeing the number of entries and the diversity of jurisdictions represented each year is truly exhilarating. We’re proud to be a part of such a unique endeavour which shines a light on the legal excellence which the African continent hosts in such abundance.”

A few of the big winners in 2021 were AB & David Africa (African Law Firm of the Year – Large Practice), Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah (African Law Firm of the Year – Small Practice), Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa (African Network/Alliance of the Year) and Herbert Smith Freehills (Alternative Service Provider of the Year).

With 33 different categories open this year, there is plenty of scope. Law firms, in-house teams and alternative service providers are encouraged to submit their nominations before the 20 May 2022 deadline. To go directly to the nomination form click here.

Anyone can submit an entry, as long as they or the firm/company entered meet the category’s criteria. There is also only one entry per firm/company per award. The time period covered by entries should be the 12-18 months prior to the entry deadline. All categories can be viewed here.
