African Corporate and Government Counsel Forum appoints Ozim Ifeoma Ibeziako as Chair among new Board

Founded in 2021 by Cynthia Adaora Lareine and Nankunda Katangaza, the African Corporate and Government Counsel Forum supports in-house legal professionals across Africa, with a focus on networking, training, and strengthening engagement in both Anglophone and Francophone regions

The African Corporate & Government Counsel Forum (ACGC) has appointed highly experienced lawyer Ozim Ifeoma Ibeziako, Executive General Counsel Africa at GE Vernova, as its new Chair, alongside several additions to the ACGC Advisory Board.

“I am honoured to serve as chair of the ACGC advisory board at a time when the role of in-house counsel across Africa is becoming increasingly strategic,” said Ibeziako. “ACGC provides an important platform for collaboration, professional development and cross-border exchange. I look forward to working with fellow board members to support the continued growth of the community and its impact.”

A law graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, with an LLM in Energy Law & Policy and an MBA from the Dundee, Ibeziako is dual qualified in Nigeria and England & Wales. She was recently named to the Nigerian Bar Association YLF Committee on Energy and Sustainability’s ‘Energy Woman Hall of Fame’.

Supporting more than 2,000 in-house counsel across Africa, in corporate and public sectors, ACGC aims to equip in-house lawyers with key knowledge and insights on important issues that build their capacity to deliver effectively in their positions.

ACGC provides networking, information, resources, training, and other services, while leveraging on and improving its members’ connections across jurisdictions, industries, and sectors both in Africa and beyond, to identify and share good practices and promote a culture of innovation amongst its members.

The ACGC Board for the 2026-2027 term brings together senior in-house leaders from across Africa: Allan Rwakakooko (Uganda), Godwin Amenyinu (Togo), Zainab Bachoo (Kenya), Felista Kimanuka (Rwanda), Brenda Aluoch (Kenya), Temitope Oluwatosin (Nigeria), Nafissa Diallo (Francophone Africa), and Ibrahim Kitoo (Kenya).

“We are delighted to welcome our new advisory board members and our incoming chair, Ozim, who has been actively involved with ACGC from the beginning, including our first bilingual webinar bringing together Anglophone and Francophone lawyers,” said ACGC founders Cynthia Adaora Lareine and Nankunda Katangaza. “This group reflects the breadth and diversity of the in-house legal community across Africa.”

The new Advisory Board will play a key role in guiding ACGC’s ongoing growth and next phase of development and strengthening engagement, say the founders.

“Having made the transition from private practice to in-house, I’ve experienced first-hand the difference this organisation makes for legal and compliance professionals in the in-house space or navigating that shift,” shared Zainab Bachoo, while noting she was honoured and excited to be joining the ACGC Advisory Board. “To be given an opportunity to serve this organisation is a privilege.”
