Tired of online ‘events’? Don’t give up yet… The ‘Fest’ is coming!

I should have already flown to see my wonderful Johannesburg friends in 2020. I should have attended yet another Legal Innovation & Tech Fest. I should have high-fived, shaken hands, listened, learnt and networked.... But I haven’t… and that’s okay!

As anyone who has ever heard me talk about the Legal Innovation and Tech Fest (or ‘Fest’ as it’s known) will attest to… I am unreservedly exuberant about the event, its goals and what it has delivered every year for the last three.

Both for me personally and the wider legal community, it always guarantees stimulating and thought-provoking content, great networking and more than a few laughs and smiles.

So, why does it not matter that I’ve not been able to attend the event, usually held in June each year, for 2020 as of yet?

After much deliberation, planning, sleepless nights and three other events, the wonderful team at Eventful People have moved the event, not only to November (2 - 4 to be exact) but it’s going entirely online/virtual.

By now, we are all entirely aware that not all online ‘events’ are created equal. Indeed, if our flight to digital has taught us anything, it’s that a hap-hazard, 400 unmuted participant free-for-all does not make for an enjoyable or rewarding experience.

It is important, however, that we don’t let the bitter-taste of poor online experience detract from our willingness to embrace and support those events which are genuinely committed to doing things right.

Here are my top-three reasons why the ‘Fest’ is doing it right:

1. Audience-led research and agenda

Every year the pre-event ‘Community Report’ which is supported by Africa Legal as the event’s ‘Intelligence Partner’ ensures that the agenda is truly aligned to what the African legal community wants and deserves. Go ahead and review the 2020 agenda to see exactly what I mean.

2. Tried and tested

Eventful People have already pulled on three fantastically well-attended and reviewed events in 2020. Their approach to online events have already received a giant thumbs-up from Africa’s Business Intelligence, HR and SAP communities. Now it’s legal’s turn.

3. Platform

The selected platform utilised by The Fest for the actual operation of their events is top-tier. Forget the aforementioned Zoom carnage... This is a platform which truly digitizes the in-person event and makes sure that networking, seminars, presentations and post-event follow up is all seamlessly integrated - all without a mask or bottle of sanitizer in sight!

Don’t just take my word for it. Join me at this year's Legal Innovation & Tech Fest and let’s embrace a truly digital event together!

As an extra special incentive for our audiences based outside of SA we are offering a 50% discount for tickets to the event - simply add ‘AFRICALEGAL2020’ as your promo code when booking.
