Model contracts’ roles in the energy transition

The 2023 Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN) Model Contracts Workshop will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 19 to 22 September 2023. Shakwa Nyambe, Managing Partner of SNC Incorporated, is one of the speakers at the event and will share his expertise to a global audience of industry experts, policymakers and investors in the energy sector.

Nyambe will speak on “Energy Development and Transition in Africa: The role of Model Contracts”, and will highlight the way model contracts have helped facilitate energy development projects in Africa and the role they can play in the continent’s dynamic embrace of energy transition and the wide spectrum of contracts that entails.

The presentation will underscore the significance of model contracts such as joint operating agreements, gas sales agreements, asset sale and purchase agreements, gas transportation agreements, and farm-out agreements and their roles in facilitating energy development projects in Africa and energy transition as a whole.

“My participation at the Model Contract Workshop highlights my commitment to the energy industry and Africa’s growing energy needs,” Nyambe said. “I am looking forward to sharing and exchanging my expertise and services at the workshop.”

The AIEN is an independent not-for-profit professional membership association that supports international energy negotiators around the world and enhances their effectiveness and professionalism in the international energy community.

The Model Contracts Workshop is a vital component of the organisation's acclaimed model contracts service, providing an annual forum for meaningful participation and feedback on AIEN model forms and a vibrant opportunity for networking within the global energy industry.

SNC Incorporated is a full-service energy, natural resources, commercial and dispute resolution law firm with offices in Windhoek, Namibia. Nyambe also serves as the Vice President for Communication at the AIEN.
