Christo Els, Senior Partner at the firm, said the recognition was testament to the excellent calibre and capability of the Webber Wentzel team.

“We are very proud of the results and particularly the Legal DealMakers of the Decade (by Value) award. We are grateful to our clients for trusting us with their significant mandates and we remain committed to working with them to reach their strategic goals,” he said.

They won in the categories.

  • Legal DealMakers of the Decade - M&A - by Deal Value
  • Legal Adviser of the Year 2019 - M&A - by Deal Value
  • Legal Adviser of the Year 2019 - M&A - by Deal Flow
  • Legal Adviser of the Year 2019 - General Corporate Finance - by Deal Value

In September last year the firm was named African Law firm of the Year at the 2019 African Legal Awards where it was praised by the panel of judges for its deal presence across Africa, as well as its commitment to enabling access to justice.

At this week’s event the Webber Wentzel team also received second place for Legal Adviser of the Year 2019 - General Corporate Finance - by Deal Flow, second place for BEE Legal Adviser of the Year 2019 by Deal Value and Deal Flow, and acted as adviser on the M&A Deal of the Year.

DealMakers track all M&A deals and corporate finance transactions entered into by South African listed companies.
