BNLF Celebrates Excellence

The British Nigeria Law Forum (BNLF) will be hosting its 18th annual awards dinner in London on November 22, 2019. Nominations for the awards close on October 20, 2019.

Nigeria’s relationship with Britain is one of the strongest in Africa with the legal community leading the way. The Forum works to support and deepen this union by encouraging dialogue between legal professionals in the two countries.

The upcoming event recognises BNLF members, based in either country, in four categories:

  • Community Service
  • Rising Star
  • Women in Leadership
  • Lawyer of the Year

Seye Aina, chair of the Forum, said the awards celebrate achievement and hard work.

“Members who attain high standards and stand out as role models deserve a little recognition. The BNLF annual gala dinner is not only a splendid event, but also a perfect opportunity to celebrate with the nominated finalists and award winners.”

Among the judges this year will be Africa Legal’s co-founder Wendy Bampton, a regular visitor to Nigeria and someone who understands the challenges lawyers working in these different worlds face.

“With Brexit looming, there is a unique opportunity to expand and strengthen relationships, in a very different way, between African countries and the UK. Nigeria’s legal system has much in common with that of Britain which makes them natural partners on legal issues. It is an honour to be part of recognising and celebrating the success of individuals through the BNLF’s awards.”

The three-course gala dinner and awards will be held at the Holiday Inn in Bloomsbury.

Fundraising on the night will be for the Sickle Cell Society and BNLF community projects.
