Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors honoured as a Law Firm of the Year among Media Law International’s 2026 Award winners

Established in 1947, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors is one of Nigeria’s oldest business law firms, and a member of Lawyers Associated Worldwide (LAW), a global network of independent firms located in more than 180 major commercial centers. At the recent Media Law International Awards in London, Punuka Attorneys was the only African firm named a Law Firm of the Year.

Being named a Law Firm of the Year at the recent Media Law International 2026 Awards held at the historic Reform Club in central London is a testament to the relentless dedication and specialised expertise of Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors’ Media, Entertainment, Intellectual Property & Technology department, led by partner Isioma Nnenna Alexis Idigbe, says the pioneering Nigerian law firm.

“A special thank you goes to our entire team at Punuka Attorneys and Solicitors; it is your collective hard work, brilliance, and collaborative spirit that made this achievement possible. This honour underscores our commitment to providing world-class legal solutions and our growing influence within the global media law landscape. A heartfelt thank you also to our clients and international peers for their continued trust and support. We look forward to building on this success.”

The Media Law International (MLI) 2026 Law Firm of the Year Awards celebrated 17 law firms across five continents, with Punuka Attorneys the sole African winner. They were presented at the conclusion of MLI’s sixth Annual Global Conference in London, which brought together industry leaders to ‘exchange insights and explore developments within one of the world’s most dynamic and rapidly evolving sectors’.

“Each firm has distinguished itself through a combination of technical excellence, strategic insight and expert understanding of industry legal matters,” said MLI in an official statement. “They have not only responded to change - they have helped to shape it. The MLI Award celebrates those achievements, the dedication behind them and recognise the vital role that our winners have in their jurisdictions.”

Punuka Attorneys associate Decency Ụ Nkume, who also attended the International Trademark Association (INTA)’s 148th Annual Meeting while in London, accepted the 2026 Law Firm of the Year Award on behalf of the longstanding Nigerian firm.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to Media Law International for this prestigious recognition and for hosting such an impactful global forum,” said Punuka Attorneys.

The Law Firm of the Year category, says MLI, celebrates firms that have demonstrated outstanding achievement over the past year, not only through the quality of their legal work, but through their leadership in managing complex, often precedent-setting matters across the range of media-related matters.
