Leading Middle Eastern and North African firm Matouk Bassiouny has announced the return of Khalid Diaa as a Partner in its Corporate and M&A practice group

A trusted advisor in the corporate and M&A space across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, new Matouk Bassiouny partner Khalid Diaa has over 11 years experience advising multinationals, private equity firms, and strategic investors on complex acquisitions, deals, joint ventures, and capital markets transactions.

A PhD in Law graduate from Cairo University, Diaa previously worked at Matouk Bassiouny for several years, rising from associate to senior associate then counsel.

He rejoins Matouk Bassiouny after serving as Corporate Counsel - MENA region for program, project, and construction management services provider Hill International, a giant US-based firm operating in more than 100 offices across 42 countries. 

Described as a “go-to counsel for clients operating in highly regulated and fast-evolving industries”, Diaa has extensive experience on M&A transactions and cross-border structuring, regulatory compliance, and strategic investments across a range of sectors, including technology, healthcare, financial services, and energy.

Diaa has represented various clients in significant corporate transactions, including Edita Food Industries in its acquisition of a full stake in Fancy Food SAE; Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) in its acquisition of stakes in four Egyptian Exchange-listed companies; and First Abu Dhabi Bank in its acquisition of Bank Audi’s Egyptian subsidiary, Bank Audi SAE. He has also contributed to legal education as a Teaching Assistant at Cairo University, and recently completed his PhD in Law.
