Leading duo behind some of Africa’s largest technology and sports deals launches new firm Three Points Law

Leading lawyers Simon Leaf and Tom Murray, who have strong experience working with African governments and businesses, have this week launched pioneering tech-enabled firm, Three Points Law, specialising in sports, tech and commercial law.
Exciting new law firm Three Points Law, officially launched yesterday, is built to be fit for the future while focusing on three fast-moving areas of business and law - technology, sports, and commercial, says founding partner Simon Leaf.
Simon, previously Head of Sport and Co-Lead of the Technology Transactions group at Mishcon del Reya LLP, and his co-founder Tom Murray are both leading British sports, technology, and commercial lawyers who have acted on some of the largest technology and sports transactions in Africa in recent years.
The founding partners previous work includes the Visit Rwanda/Arsenal partnership, high-profile sponsorship and commercial agreements for SportPesa, and a transaction to build one of the largest data centres in South Africa.
"While we have historically been recognised for our high-profile sports work acting for the world’s best athletes and teams, we have developed a successful track record for advising on some ground-breaking tech and commercial law matters,” says Leaf, noting the increasing convergence of the three focus areas.
With over 25 years’ experience at top international firms, Leaf and Murray have established Three Points law to bridge the gap between traditional law and modern client needs. The firm combines deep legal expertise with immediate use of cutting-edge legal tech and AI as part of its client offering.
“We have been blown away by the support from our clients since soft launching last month,” says Murray, who is also founder and CEO of NIVO, a global esports and interactive entertainment management business. “This has been a while in the making and we are very excited to finally announce our news.”
The founders say Three Points Law is positioned to serve a diverse portfolio of clients, from established technology businesses to high-profile sports professionals and entrepreneurs. They have particular experience working with government entities, entrepreneurs, and other corporates across Africa.
The firm has more than a dozen founder clients, including well-established international technology suppliers and fast growth media and real estate businesses, through to high-profile athletes, football clubs, and entrepreneurs.
The firm also currently acts for a high-profile African investment fund that is exploring a series of major investments into African sports and technology assets.
Technology will sit at the heart of Three Points Law’s service delivery, say the founders, with the firm partnering with cutting-edge innovators like Legora and Qanooni, to deliver faster, more accurate, cost-effective and value-driven advice.
"As a new firm born in the AI era and unencumbered by legacy systems, we can deliver work faster, be more efficient, and collaborate effectively in line with our clients’ needs," says Murray, noting Three Points Law’s technological foundation enhances rather than replaces the human element of the legal profession.
The firm will also commit a portion of its billing time and/or profits each year to charitable initiatives and community causes - reflecting the founders’ extensive pro bono history - including Bloomsbury Football Foundation, which uses the power of football to improve the lives of over 5,000 young people every week.
