Kenya’s MMW Advocates takes ‘bold step’ by launching strategic alliance with German firm Alexander & Partner

With strong bilateral ties and Germany being one of Kenya’s top trade partners in Europe, innovative Nairobi law firm MMW Advocates has today announced a strategic alliance with Berlin-headquartered Alexander & Partner Rechtsanwälte mbB.
Like the African continent as a whole, Kenya is rising and African legal talent deserves a seat at the global table, says fintech and AML expert Stella Muraguri, the Managing Partner of Nairobi-based MMW Advocates, an innovation-centric firm.
This morning, MMW Advocates announced its new strategic partnership with Alexander & Partner Rechtsanwälte mbB, a highly respected German firm that specialises in international business law across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
“We are proud to have Stella and her team from MMW Advocates as our partner in Kenya,” says Andreas Scherdel, a Berlin-based partner at Alexander & Partner. “We are very much looking forward to using our common skills and experiences to support business between Kenya and Germany and East Africa and Europe!”
Success in Kenya, one of Africa’s fastest-growing investment frontiers, requires more than ambition, says MMW Advocates. Legal teams need to know the terrain and understand how global deals get done. Kenya and Germany already have €500M in development cooperation focused on infrastructure, green energy, and private sector growth. Germany is one of Kenya’s top trading partners in Europe, and investors need legal teams who can operate seamlessly across jurisdictions.
The new strategic partnership meshes MMW Advocates “unmatched local insight, legal precision, and regulatory expertise in Kenya’s evolving business climate” with Alexander & Partners global expertise in international law, project finance, and cross-border transactions. The integrated legal team is ready to support German and European companies entering East Africa, Kenyan businesses expanding globally, and investors navigating complex multi-jurisdictional structures.
“We are proud to have forged a strategic partnership with the esteemed law firm MMW in Nairobi, which will bring the benefit to our clients to get best legal advice in Kenya and East African countries,” says Oliver Alexander, Managing Partner of Alexander & Partner, and founder of German business initiative ReThinking Africa.
For Muraguri, today’s announcement is more than a milestone; it’s validation.
“When I started my law firm, I was told I was too young,” she shared. “Too ambitious. That cross-border work was for the ‘big firms’. But I believed that where you start should never limit how far you can go … Together, we’re building a firm that understands both Nairobi and Berlin.”
This new strategic legal partnership shows that African law firms can be forward-thinking, globally trusted, and built for serious growth, says Muraguri.
“As the saying goes: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. This is how we go far. This is how we build the future of African legal practice. Local strength. Global reach. Built for serious growth.”
