Engoru Mutebi Advocates scores sports law star Timothy Kajja as an Associate Partner

Ugandan corporate and commercial firm Engoru Mutebi Advocates announced yesterday afternoon that Timothy Kajja, founder of the pan-African Young African Lawyers in Sports forum, has joined their firm as an Associate Partner
As the summer transfer window in European football keeps fans and media engaged in the offseason, wondering which stars will move where, highly regarded Ugandan law firm Engoru Mutebi Advocates has scored a new star of its own, with the announcement that Timothy Kajja is joining as an Associate Partner.
“We are excited to have Timothy on board and look forward to the insights and leadership he brings to our team,” says the firm, noting that Timothy has extensive experience across multiple legal domains, including fintech, data protection and privacy, intellectual property, arbitration, and sports law.
He also spearheads Young African Leaders in Sport (YALS), a pan-African forum advocating for the inclusion of young people in sport leadership and governance.
Speaking with Africa Legal earlier this year, Timothy discussed how Africa having the fastest growing, youngest population of any continent meant that it is vital that young professionals step up into leadership roles across many fields, including sports, to help shape a fairer, better future for the continent.
A member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and a licensed agent by FIFA, Timothy holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Uganda Christian University, and a Master of Laws from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM).
He has advised global institutions including the UN Secretary General, The Premier League, the African Union Sports Council, and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), and recently represented footballer Fahad Bayo before the FIFA Tribunal, a successful employment dispute against Czech club MFK Vyskov.
“Growing up, I always wanted to do something beneficial, not only for myself, but for the global village that we live in,” shared Timothy when chatting with Africa Legal.
Engoru Mutebi Advocates provides specialist services in Infrastructure, Project Finance, Employment & Pension Law Practice, Data Protection, Capital Markets and Competition law in the East African Region. Its partners have over six decades of combined legal experience, among a team of multi-talents lawyers.
The firm also has relationships with leading International firms and is able to service clients across a wide range of frontiers. Engoru Mutebi Advocates is founded on values of pro-activeness, pragmatism and integrity. The firm’s clientele consists of international, regional and local businesses across many sectors and industries.
“We are delighted to welcome Timothy Kajja as our new Associate Partner.”
