Building on experience: construction lawyer Tamlynn Caelers-Avis joins LnP Beyond Legal
South African construction and infrastructure lawyer Tamlynn Caelers-Avis has joined specialist firm LnP Beyond Legal, bringing more than a decade of legal experience and extensive work on major projects and complex disputes.
For Tamlynn Caelers-Avis, her move this month to award-winning firm LnP Beyond Legal brings together several strands of a career that has become increasingly immersed in construction, infrastructure, and dispute resolution across major projects.
Now a Senior Associate at LnP Beyond Legal, her move comes little more than a year after Caelers-Avis was named a Professional Services finalist in the 2025 TransUnion Rising Star Awards. As reported by Africa Legal, at that time she reflected on the importance of mentorship and collaboration in her development, and on being part of a team of women working across infrastructure, natural resources and technology projects in Africa.
Her specialist work now extends into academia too.
Since February, Caelers-Avis has been a sessional lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand, alongside her construction law practice.
Caelers-Avis announced this week that she had started as a Senior Associate at LnP Beyond Legal in September, following more than four years at WMN Attorneys, where she advised public and private sector clients on major infrastructure projects and construction and commercial disputes, including contracts valued at more than R20 billion and disputes exceeding R19 million.
Her work has encompassed litigation, arbitration and adjudication, alongside advising on FIDIC, NEC, JBCC, GCC and bespoke agreements.
Those areas provide significant crossover with LnP’s specialist work across projects, procurement and dispute resolution, including adjudication, arbitration and mediation. The nine-year-old firm focuses on the energy, natural resources and infrastructure sectors, with an emphasis on practical and innovative approaches to legal services.
LnP Beyond Legal was recently named Specialist Firm of the Year at the 2026 African Legal Awards, the third time in four years it has collected the accolade. It was also shortlisted for Transport & Infrastructure Team of the Year and Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Team of the Year.
Caelers-Avis previously spent more than three years with construction and technology law specialists MDA Attorneys and gained in-house experience at G7 Renewable Energies, working on renewable energy projects and related construction and project agreements. She began her legal career at Adams & Adams.
A University of KwaZulu-Natal law graduate, Caelers-Avis later completed the University of Pretoria’s Programme in Construction Adjudication.
