Real-world impact of AI to be explored by leaders, lawyers, and innovators at Middle East & Africa Tech Summit next week

Recent reports show workplace adoption of Gen AI tools has almost doubled in the past year, but AI usage may also have negative impacts for lawyers. The ‘Era of AI’ will be addressed at DLA Piper’s Middle East & Africa Tech Summit on Tuesday, 20 May 2025

Excitement is building for next week’s tech summit in Dubai on the “Accelerating Business Evolution: The Era of AI”, where influential business leaders, lawyers, investors, regulators, and innovators will discuss the real-world impact of AI.

Last month, Thomson Reuters published its 2025 Generative AI in Professional Services report, which showed AI is rapidly moving from hype to everyday tool in business and legal workplaces. More than 40% of professionals in legal, tax, accounting, risk, and government industries now use GenAI in some fashion.

That rapid evolution and its impact will be explored at DLA Piper’s Middle East & Africa Tech Summit on Tuesday, 20 May 2025 at the Kempinski, Dubai Mall hotel.

Known for fostering innovation and collaboration within legal and technology communities, DLA Piper’s Tech Summits have been held internationally for many years. Next week’s summit will spotlight how AI is reshaping industries, driving growth, and creating new challenges and opportunities in the Middle East & Africa.

The Tech Summit will be opened on Tuesday morning by Sandra Oyewole, DLA Piper Africa Technology Sector lead, alongside fellow DLA Piper partners Paul Allen, Global Co-Chair Intellectual Property & Technology, and Gareth Stokes, Global Co-Chair Technology.

Speakers include Dr. Abdelrahman AlMahmoud, who has over a decade of experience in big data technologies, data analysis for cybersecurity, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, and Lord Tim Clement-Jones, who co-founded the United Kingdom’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on AI and is a House of Lords spokesperson for Science, Innovation and Technology.

Keynote talks and panel sessions will cover topics including AI's Role in Transforming Business and Legal Landscapes, AI’s role in creating business value and balancing innovation with accountability, Insights into PE, VC funding, and AI-driven M&A strategies in Africa and the Middle East, and addressing AI-driven cybersecurity threats and data protection challenges.
