Excitement builds for Horizon 2025 summit on African investment with expert speakers revealed

Centred on the theme “Africa Unlocked: Capital, Compliance, Connectivity and Market Trends”, leading Nigerian firm Stren & Blan Partners will host The Continental Investment Drift Summit in central London this week, on 9 October.

Global investors, policymakers, legal experts, and business leaders will gather at the Hotel ME London near Trafalgar Square in the British capital on Thursday for a high-level workshop and summit to explore investment opportunities and address the challenges of navigating Nigeria's and Africa’s complex investment landscape.

Hosted by leading African law firm Stren & Blan Partners, Horizon 2.0 - The Continental Investment Drift Summit provides a platform for in-depth discussions on key sectorial topics within energy, technology, international regulations, infrastructure, and financial services, highlighting the region's immense potential despite economic hurdles like inflation and capital importation challenges.

“We are passionate about bridging the gap between international capital and the African growth story,” said firm’s Managing Partner Christian Aniukwu, speaking with Africa Legal ahead of this year’s event, the second iteration of their Horizon summits.

“Our first London event was born out of our desire to create a platform where global investors, African businesses, and policy makers could engage meaningfully on opportunities within Africa’s rapidly evolving market… For Horizon 2.0 we’re building on that momentum by expanding our focus to cover new sectors. We are amplifying investor invoices and ensuring conversations lead to actionable outcomes.”

Like its predecessor, Horizon 2.0 is not just a knowledge-sharing platform, but a springboard for real business engagement and partnership. On Thursday, the afternoon summit will include:

  • a keynote presentation on “Africa’s Next Leap; Navigating Investment Trends in a Changing Global Economy”;
  • a panel discussion on “Crossing Borders; Tackling Regulatory Barriers to Pan-African and International Deals” moderated by Andrew Skipper MBE and featuring insights from Lucy Kavanagh of Trinity International LLP, Daniel Driscoll of Extractives Advisory, and Paul Arkwright, former British diplomat and senior strategic adviser;
  • a fireside chat exploring “The Infrastructure - Finance Nexus, Financing Africa’s Infrastructure” with Stren & Blan partner Ozioma Agu in conversation with Yann Alix, the Co-Head of Africa and Mining EMEA at global firm Ashurst;
  • a presentation on The Nigerian Restructuring Market; and
  • a networking session and drinks and canapes reception.

Amala Umeike and Christian Aniukwu of Stren & Blan Partners will headline as speakers.

This week it was also revealed that Gbite Oduneye, Managing Partner at ODBA, will join the panel discussion on “Crossing Borders; Tackling Regulatory Barriers to Pan-African and International Deals”, drawing on his more than two decades of experience in financial services, technology, and entrepreneurship to discuss how venture capital and institutional finance are converging to unveil Africa’s next wave of innovation and liquidity.

Aniukwu and his fellow speakers and colleagues are keen to see how the cross-pollination of ideas at Horizon 2.0 will translate into investments that positively impact Africa’s long-term growth, along with generating returns.

Horizon 2.0 is a valuable opportunity to connect people, shape vital conversations, and progress the vision of Africa as a global investment destination of choice.
