About the Role:

LEGAL OFFICER

 

Position Summary

Reporting to the legal Services Manager, the Legal Officer shall be responsible for monitoring and/or advising on all legal matters, contracts, and agreements.

 

Main Duties

  • Preparing and managing Contracts, Leases, security documents, MOUs and other legal documents between the Institution and other parties
  • Reviewing and negotiating various agreements and documents with suppliers and customers including sales contract, confidential agreements, tender documents etc
  • Communicating with external attorneys to provide legal advice on the issues related to the institution’s obligations, rights, risks and organization privileges if needed
  • Collaborating with the Senior Executive Team and other internal departments such as HR, Finance and Marketing etc. to ensure Legal Compliance for the institution’s operations
  • Coordinating with Human Resources, Management Team or external attorneys (if needed) in order to enforce procedures and policies legally
  • Reviewing and vetting demand letters, statutory notices, pleadings, affidavits and other relevant litigation documents
  • Providing guidance on Litigation matters
  • Managing litigation records and regular review of litigation matters
  • Liaising with external lawyers to defend the institution’s rights involved in contract negotiation, disputes settlement, and litigation in needed; and
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time

 

Required Qualifications for the Position

 

  • Bachelor of Law LLB degree
  • Diploma from the Kenya School of Law
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current Practicing Certificate
  • 3 years relevant working experience
