The Senior Legal Advisor is the mid-level position in the Legal job family and operates at a service unit / business unit or group level within NTT.
Senior Legal Advisors have the primary responsibility for providing sound legal advice and support to managers in the business within NTT. They assist with or take the lead on client contracts, legal co-ordination and contribute to the development of company policies in line with the required legislation. They take responsibility for compliance to these policies and ensure legal consistency across the regions within NTT.
They ensure the group legal strategy and regional strategic objectives are translated correctly and ensure compliance to the group strategy ensure a continuous basis that the regional legal organisation flexibly reacts and is aligned to current business drivers, organisational initiatives and regional programmes.
Working at NTT
Provide legal advice:
These individuals provide sound legal counsel and commercial support to business management and executives on non-trading transactions with clients, suppliers and other 3rd parties.
This legal counsel and commercial support is also provided to service and business units for internal projects and intercompany agreements.
In some instances, the Legal Manager to manage the legal and contractual aspects of a variety of complex services contracts and projects from pre-sales to project conclusion, ensuring compliance with Dimension Data policies and procedures and the applicable laws and contractual obligations.
Contribute to bids/proposals:
Senior Legal Advisors provide legal counsel and commercial support to the Bid Management team on medium complexity client and/or vendor proposals and transactions.
They ensure the consistency of commercial, legal and risk management across the region.
They may be required to engage with clients in ensuring the closure of contracts in line with NTT corporate policies.
They may also be required to draft, review and negotiate a broad range of contracts for medium to complex engagements including but not limited to RFP’s.
Manage legal risk:
The Senior Legal Advisor works closely with the Risk Management team to contribute to the revision and development of company policies and procedures, insurance matters and corporate governance.
They analyse client contracts, business case law, legislation and regulatory matters that affect the company and provide feedback to management, by identifying any risks and highlighting these.
They provide advice and contribute legal information on more complex labour matters within NTT.
The Senior Legal Advisor will escalate variances from contracting policy or unusual risks and will remain abreast of legal developments affecting NTT, it’s clients and industries and synthesizes the information for incorporation into transactional practices.
Co-ordinate legal activities:
These individuals co-ordinate and manage litigation issues on a regional basis. They ensure adequate visibility of management and statutory bodies.
They act as liaison on all material litigious matters, disputes, acquisitions and disposals. He/she performs a co-ordination role for service and business unit legal resources.
They will be required to draft and negotiate various agreements, including software licensing agreements, maintenance and support agreements, managed services agreements, etc.
Ensure relevant documentation/reports:
Senior Legal Advisors ensure that all relevant information regarding legal matters is accurate and kept up to date.
They ensure the documentation of progress against legal activities and provide regular reports on problem status to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
They ensure the provision of status reports regarding the level of legal risk associated with any given area of the business.
Assumes responsibility for end to end contract administration.
These individuals provide training on corporate policies (as required), including standard code of conduct and specific corporate policies as related to risk management.
This will also include educating management teams on legal and risk management issues.
In some instances, they act as people managers for a group of Legal Advisors.
They partner with the organisation to attract the right talent and ensure their team is staffed according to requirements.
They ensure employees reporting to them are engaged and understand their career opportunities, by taking responsibility for the development and training of their direct reports.
To enable the legal team to achieve their objectives, the Senior Legal Advisor acts as mentor/coach for the legal team members.
They do this by customising their approach, planning for their coaching interactions and communicating expectations.
They generally act as an advisor that assists the business to set and keep priority activities relating to legal risk and exposure.
Assist with commercial transactions.

Required Work Experience:
At least 5 years' experience in a similar role (Commercial or Legal) within a global organisation.
Bachelor’s qualification (LLB, BCom Law).
Have wide-ranging experience.
