3 years' relevant experience (practicing law or in the business environment)
Keen understanding of Dispute Resolution and Litigation processes
Knowledge of JBCC, NEC and FIDIC Construction contracts
Must be an admitted attorney
Company Secretarial experience is advantageous
Ability to document formal correspondence (content, comprehension, grammar and spelling)
QMS Awareness; Policy; SP 01.03,05,06,07,14,17,18, 19
Advise on all legal issues related to construction projects to ensure compliance with current construction laws and regulations.
Oversee client and vendor contracts and provide commercially and cost effective legal advice
Research various legal issues and draft legal documentation to ensure compliance to applicable laws and regulations.
Scrutinise current and potential contracts and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the Group Legal & Compliance Manager’s attention.
Provide arbitration, litigation and mediation support to the organisation.
Acquire and develop knowledge regarding all statutory requirements that the Group of companies need to adhere to and manage and ensure continuous compliance.
Provide leadership and manage staff and resources effectively in the legal/compliance department.
Review and provide legal advice on tender documents.
Liaise with relevant companies and departments within the Group and take applicable action where legal risks have been identified.
Provide and interpret legal information and give training to staff when required.
Liaise with the Group Legal & Compliance Manager and advise on the legal implications of internal policies and procedures (within the scope of the ISO 9001:2008 quality management system).
Review progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers.
Assist the Group Legal & Compliance Manager with the negotiation and drafting of documentation for business transactions and make sure the correct information is provided timeously.
Assist the Financial Department to register, modify and dissolve group companies within the requirements of the Companies Act.
Provide legal assistance to make sure the Group adheres to all Health and Safety regulations.
