Johannesburg based Law Firm seeks a Legal Secretary/Paralegal
Duties & Responsibilities
To confirm the residential and domicile address for the debtor accurately, generate the Letter of Demand in terms of Section 129 of the NCA, from Swordfish and have same sent out.
Drafting summonses, compiling the full document, ensuring summons is signed within a reasonable time, dispatching documents.
Drafting the Default Judgments together with the Warrant of Execution. Requesting accompanying affidavits from client, compiling the full documents, ensuring Default Judgments and Warrants of Execution are signed within a reasonable time, dispatching documents.
Answering queries received from Court regarding Default Judgment. Requesting accompanying affidavits from client – if necessary, compiling the full document, ensuring query is signed within a reasonable time, dispatching documents.
Attending to any and all other queries that may arise within the legal action process, within a reasonable time.
Attending to follow-up work when requested. Also proceeding with the necessary according to the level or urgency, providing full and complete feedback on all matters on the date completion is required.
All internal and external correspondence to be properly responded to within 24 hours of receipt thereof, unless the instructions contained in email advises otherwise. Confirmation of receipt on all correspondence received from an external source, must be given immediately. If the external correspondence was not meant for the paralegal, confirmation of receipt must be given together with affirmation that the correspondence, will be or was forwarded to the applicable individual/ department within Groenewald Lubbe Inc.
Adhoc request from the Team Leader or Management on other departmental duties OR extra responsibilities allocated.
Paralegal Certificate advantageous
3-5 year working experience in a Legal Collections Environment.
Experience in the full Litigation process.
Knowledge of the relevant legislation e.g. Magistrates Court Act, Hight Court Act, National Credit Act
