MacRobert Inc is looking for an experienced Practice Manager to take charge of all business services and strategically ensure that all functions in the Firm perform at an optimum.
An understanding of the legal industry and the various business services components is essential. The Practice Manager will give direction and guidance to the supporting functions (i.e. Finance, HR, IT, Marketing and Facilities). Strategic and IT capabilities are essential. Commercial background - MBA/Chartered accountant.
Strategic planning and implementation
Working with practice area leaders, partners and teams to strategically write and develop practice area business plans.
Working with practice area leaders, partners and teams to implement practice area business plans.
Regularly meet with practice area leaders and partners to monitor business plan progress and implementation.
Research marketing and business development opportunities.
Oversee and coordinate key legal directory submissions for assigned practice areas.
Manage and contribute to wider projects as and when required.
Develop an understanding of and apply best practice procedures and protocols to pitching and client development.
Assist with firm/practice area seminars.
Assist with firm/practice area client events.
Compile and write reports.
Work on client development programmes and plans.
Develop and manage budgets for key activities or firm-wide events and projects.
Mentor and coach junior team members as a means to transfer knowledge and skills.
Assist Chairman of the Board and Shareholders with yearly business and operational planning
Responsible for the overall business management, governance and risk management
Assist HRM with the effective structure and use of personnel
Developing of management systems
Development and implementation of internal and external communication strategy, including communication to branch offices
Ensure the execution of the various business and Practice Group Plans
Continuing and implementation of the Executive Committee's decision
Demonstrated IT oversight and proficiency essential
Support Finance Manager with budget preparation, enquiries and variances in the budget
Assist with audit preparations and audit reports
Implement and monitor financial controls
Monitor adherence to statutory FICA requirement
Assist with the King 3 report
Responsible for organisational performance, with specific focus on managing the HR Manager, IT Manager, Finance Manager, Marketing Manager and Facilities Manager
Support and guide managers in the support functions in order to meet strategic goals
Development and training of professional staff reporting into the position
Development and implementation of divisional strategies (HR, IT, Finance, Marketing)
Monitoring of budget of support functions (HR, IT, Finance, Marketing, Facilities)
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
B Com Accounting/Management Accounting /LLB/Business management or similar qualification
3 - 5 years general management experience in a corporate environment
5 - 10 years operational management experience
In depth knowledge of the legal industry
Budget development and oversight experience
Knowledge and experience in organisational effectiveness and operations management implementing best practices
Project Management and deadline driven
